Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.

Prerequisites:

• Minimum age: 15 years
• Swim 150 yards continuously
• Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs, then swim 50 yards
• Complete a timed “brick test” within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, exit the water without using steps or a ladder.

This is a blended class with online and in-person sessions. Approximately one week before the in-person session, you’ll receive an email (to the address you provided) with a link to complete the online session. ** The online portion of this class will take approximately 6-8 hrs. to complete and is a required prerequisite for the in-person session of the class.

Participants who successfully complete the lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.

Class Days/Times:

Friday     5:30 PM – 9:00 PM

Saturday 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Sunday     8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Cost of class registration includes $50 non-refundable deposit. If you cancel less than 2 weeks prior to class, you forfeit the entire registration cost.

This class is taught in a blended learning style.  Participants will receive a link to online work which must be completed prior to the start of Friday’s in-person class.

Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross 2-year certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.
