School's Out Program- Half Day and Full Day Care
The YMCA is the largest childcare provider in the United States and for good reason! Since the 1980’s, the YMCA of Reading and Berks County has provided our area with high quality, attentive childcare programs.
In our School’s Out Half and Full Day Care, we provide a safe, fun place to play and learn to children in kindergarten through sixth grade. While you’re at work, you can rest easy knowing your child is making the most of their time. While it may seem like just a few short hours, we make the time count with fun activities which not only help them learn, but also build strong bonds with their fellow classmates. Here is just a short list of what you can expect from your School’s Out Child Care Program:
- Games
- Sports
- Hands-on STEAM learning
- Nutritious and delicious snacks
- Parents MUST provide a packed lunch
School’s Out will be offered on scheduled in-service days and scheduled half days when there is no school. Registration for school’s out must be done the Friday prior to care. Registrations will not be accepted after the Friday prior to care. Registration for school’s out can be done in advance, however there will be no credits or refunds to accounts for families that choose not to utilize care once they are registered.
The YMCA must have a total of 10 registrants to be able to offer school’s out days. The YMCA will give families 24 hours notice if needing to cancel due to low enrollment.

Incomplete paperwork/registration will not be accepted and may delay your child’s start date. We will accept registration on a first come, first served basis.
