Group Swim Lessons at Reading YMCA

According to the American Red Cross: Drowning is the number one cause of death for children ages 1 to 4 years.  Among children 5 to 14 years, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death behind motor vehicle crashes.

Teaching your children water safety behaviors and Swim Lessons can significantly reduce their risk.

Classes are held Mondays & Wednesdays only

Summer Session 1: 6/9 – 6/25

Summer Session 2: 7/7 – 7/23

Summer Session 3: 8/4 – 8/20

Location: Reading Swimming Pool, 631 Washington St. Reading, PA 19601

Cost: $100 Members or $150 Non-Members

*Each session will consist of six 30-minute lessons.

New Swimmers, if you are unsure what level your child is supposed to be in for Group Swim Lessons, you can use the information below to place your Swimmer!

Aquababies: 9:15 – 9:45am

Aquababies: Water Discovery & Exploration

Accompanied in the water by their adult, children  will learn the very basics of water safety; introducing babies & toddlers to the aquatic environment and learn to be comfortable in the water.  This is a fun, interactive way for parents/adults to bond with the child while learning the importance of supervision to prevent drowning.

Level 5/6 classes are held Mondays & Wednesday only  3:45 – 4:15pm

Level 5: Stroke Development

During this course, students will further develop and refine skills for each stroke style, including breaststroke & butterfly, diving, flip turns

Level 6: Stroke Mechanics

Having mastered the fundamentals, students will perfect stroke techniques for all competitive strokes.  This course is geared towards swim team preparation.
