- The goal is to protect the wickets (three wooden stumps) while playing attacking shots.
- Key shots include the drive, cut, pull, and sweep.
- Bowling:
- The bowler delivers the ball from the other end of the pitch.
- Variations include fast bowling, swing bowling, and spin bowling.
- Spin bowlers use wrist or finger spin to deceive batsmen.
- Fielding:
- Fielders aim to prevent runs and take wickets.
- Positions include slips, gully, mid-on, mid-off, cover, point, and fine leg.
- Catching, throwing, and stopping the ball are crucial skills.
- Scoring:
- Runs are scored by running between the wickets after hitting the ball.
- Boundaries (four runs) occur when the ball crosses the boundary rope.
- Six runs are awarded if the ball clears the boundary on the full.
- Wickets and Runs:
- The team batting tries to score as many runs as possible.
- The team bowling aims to dismiss batsmen by hitting the stumps.
- Innings consist of both teams batting and bowling.
